OBESITY and its hazards will be the focus of a health awareness event

Time: 9pm to 11pm tonight
Venue: Al Dana Mall

Details: More than 20 College of Health and Science nursing students will be offering children and adults free height and weight checks, blood pressure checks and advice about healthy eating. Brochures and project slides to show people the problems of obesity and what foods they should avoid will be distributed while other attractions at this event will include a healthy eating exhibition, as well as games, painting and gifts for the children.

Time: 8pm to 11pm tonight
Venue: on the first floor of Seef Mall, opposite Seef Pharmacy

Details: this event is one of the activites of the Joslin's Diabetes Centre in marking the World Diabetes Day, which falls on November 14. According to the World Health Organisation, diabetes affects more than 25.5 per cent of the population in Bahrain. More than 40pc are at risk of developing the disease.
